Background of the Dish

The chorizo burger is one of the best chorizo recipes thanks to its simplicity, but also for being a new version of a staple dish.

Everyone loves a good burger, but by adding chorizo and traditional Andalusian spices to the mix, you take it to a whole new level.

There are different Spanish versions of classic food items, such as the Spanish omelet with chorizo and the Spanish pizza, but we can assure you that on this one the chorizo is the true main star.

Things You’ll Need for Chorizo Burger Recipe

To make this chorizo burger recipe you need chorizo, ground beef, eggs, and some seasoning and spices.

If you have a meat mincer or you can buy the chorizo minced then that would be better, but you can still make this or other recipes with ground chorizo without that equipment.

How to Make Chorizo Burger Recipe – Step by Step Guide

making chorizo burger patties
  1. The first step in the chorizo burger recipe is to remove the skin from the chorizo and chop it into very small pieces. This will be easier if you have a meat mincer at home, or if you can buy the chorizo minced.
  1. Now grab a bowl and add the ground beef, the chorizo, the eggs, a little salt, oregano, pepper, and the rest of the spices.
  1. For the next step, mix it almost like you are kneading it, and then divide it into 8 parts.
  1. Make some balls to form the chorizo patties, cover them with plastic wrap, and put them in the fridge for 30 minutes. This will help them maintain their shape while cooking.
  1. After that, throw the chorizo burgers on a hot griddle, and flatten them to give them the right round shape. Add very little oil to the griddle, as the chorizo will release its fat and it won’t stick to it.
  1. When the hamburgers are cooked (it should take from 5 to 7 minutes per side), remove them from the grill, let them rest for about 5 minutes, and add the cheese slices on top in order for them to melt.
  1. For the final step cut the bread buns in half and start assembling your burger. We recommend ketchup and mustard as condiments, with pickles, onion, tomatoes, and lettuce, since it is a perfect match with the chorizo burger.
  1. Serve your chorizo hamburgers while warm.

Substitution of Ingredients

To make this chorizo burger recipe you need chorizo, ground beef, eggs, and different spices, but still, you can make some replacements.

For example, some beef and chorizo burgers are made with more chorizo, but we recommend using more ground beef since it is better for the flavor and the cooking process.

Other chorizo burgers recipes call for fewer spices, or only salt and pepper, but the Andalusian version (the one in this article) is filled with flavor and that’s why you have more spices listed.

Feel free to try and make other chorizo dinner ideas such as the Spanish Chorizo Rice and the Spanish chorizo pasta.

The eggs are key ingredients for the burgers to get their right consistency, but you can do like other ground beef and chorizo recipes and use milk and a slice of bread to join the meats together instead of the egg.

Finally, for this chorizo burger recipe, you can use any bread bun and play with the toppings of the burger as much as you like.

How to Store Chorizo Burger Recipe

How to Store Chorizo Burger Recipe. Ingredients such as nuts, apple, salad in a fridge.

This is the best chorizo recipe because you can store it even before cooking them.

For example, you can make the chorizo patty, cover them in plastic wrap and store them in the fridge for up to 40 days (before cooking them) or for 15 days (after cooking them).

You can also store the chorizo burger covered with plastic wrap before you cook them for 12 hours, or after you cook them for 4 days.

In every case, they have to be completely covered (better if it is with plastic wrap), and let them come to room temperature once you finish making the chorizo burger recipe.

Keep in mind that you can’t store it with the toppings and bread buns on, because they go bad after a while and the bread becomes soggy, so just store the chorizo patties.
